Solar Air Conditioning (SAC)

Early summers typically bring a nice relief from your bone chilling winters, but come May & April, the summer heat begins taking its toll, both physically together with psychologically. When it is a tropical climate, as in many areas of India, the hot daytime can be all together trying. The energy levels of people so does their productivity and go down.

That is when the modern day Air conditioning comes as a God Present. An extremely substantial no. of Offices, laboratories, resorts, public buildings are now fitted with air conditioning systems. Central Air-Conditioning Systems ensure cooling system in every nook and corner of the functioning space.

Solar Air Conditioning-Comfort for Summers

While this all sound hunky dory, its not. Extensive air conditioning is interchangeable to hefty power consumption (and wastage) leading to not only substantial electricity statements but also the dreaded regular power outages. Another measure is – of course – DG sets, to bring the wanted relaxation inside, while puffing out clouds of black smoke with very high degrees of sound pollution for the surroundings and the external world to survive.

In the midst of saving ourselves in the fury of the nature, we’re mistakenly assaulting the nature increasingly more, which keeps returning even more furiously every now and after that. Solar atmosphere conditioningrefers to any air conditioning (cooling) system that uses solar power. The exhaust atmosphere is farther warmed (Phase 7 to 8) through outside heat sources (i.e. solar thermal system). Eventually in Phase 8 to 9 Sorption Rotor is Regenerated through the desorption of the bound water.

Open and Shut cycle Air Conditioning Systems:

Open-cycle systems are more valuable in buildings with high air exchange rates and high humidity loads. A heat recovery unit, at the same time as the installing of ducts for the return atmosphere and the supply air is needed. In this, the external air is dehumidified through sorption and afterward is brought to the desired temperature by heat recovery in addition to indirect and direct evaporative cooling system. Typically dehumidifying is realized in a rotor including the desiccant substance silica gel or lithium chloride, but increasingly liquid desiccants (desiccant substance: lithium chloride) are being attempted. For acclimatizing and cooling system of buildings, just solar-thermally driven procedures are used.

In real practice, solar collectors are accustomed to convert solar radiation to heat that’s subsequently fed into a thermally driven cooling procedure or into a primary air conditioning procedure. Especially in specific uses, for example for cooling medications in distant regions which are not linked to the power system, solar radiation is transformed by a photovoltaic generator to solar power that subsequently drives a refrigeration procedure – typically in the form of a compression chiller.
