Every home is unique, and selecting a suitable AC depends on various factors which experts that ACG Air-conditioning Guys’ assess during the on-site consultation. Apart from obvious differences in the capacity range and features, and proper location of the unit, heating typically works far more efficiently in a floor-standing unit. The unit is more efficient because the air is expelled closer to floor level, reducing cold spots at the feet level.

Some modern AC systems have radiant panels that further improve comfort while providing heating akin to conventional warm radiator systems. There are many other variables in play, such as the room size, your preferences, and budget. It’s why our team will inspect the space, have discussions with you, and help you determine which system would be the best solution for your property. Selecting the right split system will ensure you get maximum comfort, optimal cooling and heating and energy-efficiency.

Maintaining the desired indoor temperature and ensuring that your air conditioner runs efficiently requires that you close all external windows, doors, and that all potential ways for the air to escape are sealed. If you open the windows and doors of a room that you are trying to cool or heat, you will find it incredibly challenging to maintain the room’s temperature.

Furthermore, the AC unit also has to work harder, consuming more power and increasing your electricity bills. Therefore, you must keep all the doors and windows of a room shut when you run the air conditioner. It’s also essential that you make sure that the room has proper insulation and there are no leaks in the AC ducting. Leaks can affect cooling and the unit’s energy-efficiency as well. If you suspect that your AC isn’t cooling or heating efficiently, call us for an inspection of the unit.

Generally, you must clean your AC indoor unit’s filter every fortnight. However, this is not a thumb rule. The frequency at which you clean the filters will depend on how dusty or polluted the environment is. More pollutants and dust will mean the filter clogs quickly and these blockages affect the unit’s efficiency significantly and you will need to clean the filters more often. Once you replace a blocked filter with a cleaned one, it can reduce the system’s energy consumption by at least 5-15%.

It also helps improve indoor air quality, as there are no dust particles circulating indoors. When you clean your air conditioner’s filters regularly and get the recommended maintenance done by licensed technicians, your AC will function efficiently and function well for a longer duration, saving you money in the long term. If the filters have deteriorated, it might be better to replace them with compatible ones.

When you are buying an air conditioner, you must prioritise various aspects and size is one of the most important. An AC’s heating and cooling capacity is measured in kW(kilowatts).and these are the basic sizing specifications to follow:

If the installations are more complex, our technicians will conduct a heat load calculation before recommending the most suitable AC unit for your needs.

Most AC units of leading brands are covered by a 12-15 year warranty. However, this can vary from one brand to the next. It also depends on whether your unit’s warranty is intact.Sometimes, people tamper with the unit or try some DIY maintenance or repairs, which can void the warranty. In some cases, even if the warranty is active the component may be covered, but not the labour.

The warranty term is the total duration for which it stays active. If you buy a product from a reputable brand, the warranty will definitely be longer than two or three years. One can never predict what will go wrong with an AC system, but when the manufacturer covers their products with longer warranties, you know that you are dealing with a trustworthy brand. However, if your product is out of warranty, and you are looking for skilled and licensed technicians for regular maintenance or repairs, we can help.

A split-system AC is a compact system made up of two units- one placed outdoors and the other indoors. The outdoor unit has a compressor and an outlet that leads to the indoor unit, which is also called the wall-hung unit. Refrigerant flows through the pipes connecting these two units. A split system can cool and heat a space and it is specifically designed to for air-conditioning a single room or compact open space.

Split air conditioners can be a good alternative for property owners looking for an alternative to multi-split systems. These systems have a single indoor unit that connects to multiple indoor units. A single spilt conditioner enables you to control the indoor temperature in the room/space where you install it and proves to a cost-effective solution in homes with fewer family members and specific home cooling needs. You should discuss your requirements with the air conditioning experts before deciding whether split system air conditioning is for you.

Installing a ducted or split-system AC will significantly improve comfort levels in your home or workplace. Ducted systems involve a major investment but provide long-term value. They are discreet, energy-efficient and suitable for full home heating and cooling. Once the ducts are installed, you can also opt for zoning as it will give you better control over cooling or heating various rooms in your home or commercial setting.

These systems add value to your property and you can get a better price at point of sale. However, you must plan your ducted system installation well and our knowledgeable team is here to help you with what you need. You will need to select a system of the right size and capacity to be energy-efficient and provide reliable cooling and heating comfort. We plan these installations perfectly, tailoring solutions to your needs.

Heat pumps or reverse cycle air conditioners have the functionality to cool and heat your home. Conventional cooling and heating systems “create” energy but reverse cycle ACs function differently. They take in the outdoor air using refrigerant gas for cooling or heating the air before expelling it indoors. This climate control method is more energy-efficient than standard air conditioners.

Reverse cycle ACs dehumidify and filter the surrounding air to cool your home in the summertime and heat your home during winter. In cooler weather, the reverse-cycle system pulls in heat from outdoor air, drawing it inside. The weather doesn’t have to be warm for the system to do this. A modern reverse cycle AC that has an automatic defrost cycle will heat your home effectively. At the flick of a switch, this same system will transform into cooling mode, absorbing heat from the indoor spaces, pumping it outdoors, leaving these rooms cooler.

On average, installing ducting can take approximately one to two days. The time taken will depend on the amount of work that needs to be done. If all the areas are easily accessible, we can complete the work is a day or less. However, when too many things are needed, it can take up to two days. It’s best to consult a skilled and reliable air conditioning company like ours for an accurate estimate and quote.

Our team will survey the site and take into account the size of the property, the age of the house, type of AC and the local climate, before providing a timeframe for the job. We are always transparent in all our dealings with our clients and provide you with all the information you need regarding the various brands and types of ducted air conditioners. Once you approve the quote, we will complete the installation in one or two days.

Yes, you can install a ducted AC when constructing your home. In fact, this is the best time to do it for many different reasons. It will save you money, time, and the hassles of installing these features after the construction is complete. A ducted air conditioner is similar to a split AC system in that its outdoor and indoor unit are connected via ducts. The difference between these two is that ducted systems are fitted within ceiling spaces.

This aspect makes it easier to fit them during the home build stage. We install the system in two stages – the rough-in stage and the fit-off stage. In the rough-in stage, we install the ducting and zoning systems and the electrical and refrigeration parts. The fit-off will be done once the house construction is complete and we install the outdoor unit, controllers and outlets and commission the system.

Companies no longer manufacture ducted air cooling systems. All brands now manufacture only reverse cycle ducted air conditioners and that means you can cool and heat your house using the same system. Reverse cycle air conditioners are robust, cost-effective and energy-efficient. Because you need only one system for heating and cooling, the installation is easier and the equipment occupies less space on your property.

These systems are great for people that need both cooling and heating functions for their homes or commercial establishments. You invest only in one device and it serves both, your cooling and heating needs. In addition to these functions, a reverse cycle Air conditioning system can also dehumidify and filter the air, so you have a healthy, pleasant and clean indoor environment. We are here to provide you with all the information you need about the different types of reverse cycle ducted systems and will install them expertly for you.

In most instances, you can’t reuse piping and the cables that you had installed with the existing AC units, for new air conditioning systems. This is mainly because different types of pipes are used for different systems. The electrical requirements of each unit is also different. However, there are some exceptions to the rule and you might be able to reuse piping for some outdoor units.

You will need to speak with your local air conditioning contractor to better understand whether this is possible on your property. Our team will assess the existing piping and then determine whether your new AC unit can be installed using it. Even when the existing pipes are old, you will need to replace the piped during AC replacement. Older pipes are more likely to leak, affecting the air conditioning unit’s working and energy- efficiency.

Outdoor units do not need brackets or concrete slabs for installation and there are many different options available. Since every site is different, it’s crucial that you discuss your requirement with your local AC contractor who will conduct a site visit, check the ground at the spot where the air conditioner is to be installed. They will also explain how the outdoor unit’s location affects the noise levels and will recommend the best location with this in view.

For instance, installing an AC outdoor unit directly on the ground can sometimes create excessive vibrations and noise. In this case, you will have to install a vibration eliminator to reduce the noise and vibration. We check on this aspect and make sure that the AC unit is stable and positioned perfectly on your property. We also follow manufacturer instructions while carrying out this job and that helps keep the product warranty intact.

It is necessary to install the AC outdoor unit in a well-ventilated, dry and safe space. In addition, you need to make sure that the outdoor unit is not installed in a dusty area such as near a driveway and that the space is free of trees. Keeping these things in view during installation will help ensure that your AC’s filters do not become dirty or blocked.

It is also good to keep the outdoor unit out of extended, direct exposure to sunlight. When the unit is exposed to harsh sunlight for long periods, it has to function much harder to maintain its internal temperature. Make sure that the unit is not close to your bedrooms or your neighbour’s house as it will make some noise during operation. Our experienced air conditioning contractors will help select the perfect location to install the unit for optimal efficiency.

Regular AC maintenance is crucial to ensure its proper functioning. The system’s filters can get clogged with pet dander, debris and dust, affecting its efficiency and lifespan. This aspect makes it necessary to check and clean/replace the filters. Check the thermostat. It is also essential to remove the unit’s access panel and carefully examine it for melted insulation, overheating and burned wires or any other issues. Leaves, debris and grass clippings might pile up around the outdoor unit, blocking the airflow.

This reduces the unit’s efficiency. Remove this dirt at regular intervals and clean the outdoor unit with a low-pressure garden hose. These are just some of the basic AC maintenance tasks you must do. If you feel the system is not working as it should it is making strange noises, contact us without delay and we will inspect, maintain and repair the unit as required.

AC filters need replacement at least every six months before every major season. But you might need to replace the filter more frequently if your AC or furnace sees excessive use. Filter replacement is pretty straightforward, but if you are not sure about how to do it, you can find the procedure in the owner’s manual. Filing to replace the filter can mean you may have to deal with higher energy bills, reduced energy-efficiency and lifespan. Very simply, AC filter replacement is the best way to ensure that your AC functions optimally throughout the year. If you aren’t very sure of which air filter is suitable for your system, contact us. If you install a filter not designed for your specific unit, it can affect the working. The owner’s guide will mention which type of filter is suitable for your AC model. We can handle the replacement for you if required.

If your AC has been installed correctly, you will never have to re-gas it. However, if the pipe connectors are not fitted correctly or tightened to the appropriate torque it can cause a gas leak. Sometime, the pipes degrade over the years for inexplicable reasons and cause a leak. These are the commonest reasons you might need to re-gas your AC. Terms such as expired gas or stale gas do not occur in AC units.

If your air conditioner isn’t functioning correctly or you suspect there is a gas leak, you should get it inspected immediately. Speak with our experts and inform them about the issues you are facing with the system. Our technicians will conduct a thorough inspection to determine where the leak is and will fix the problem quickly and efficiently. Never delay getting these repairs and checks done as keeping your AC in ship shape is the best way to ensure its longevity.

Most homeowners feel the need to use their Air conditioning systems more efficiently. The best way to do this is by using a ducted zoning system. These systems allow you to group specific rooms into one “zone”. It helps you cool or heat the targeted zone rather than having the ducted system run in your entire home or commercial setting. It’s a great way to improve comfort and maximize energy efficiency as you can cool or heat only the areas you are using at any given point of time.

You will need to contact us to assess the system and ducting in your home if you want a zoning system installed. When you have ducted zoning on your property, the hot or cool air will stay within the rooms in that zone. We will also tailor the discharge grills’ position to align with the shape of the rooms within the zone, to provide maximum circulation.

Ceiling-mounted and bulkhead systems are essentially the same. However, the latter are specifically designed to cool a single room while ducted units provide heating or cooling to several rooms throughout the residence or business. There are many different types of ducted systems on the market and the flexible ducts distribute conditioned air to multiple rooms while the indoor unit is fitted within the ceiling space.

On the other hand, a bulkhead inverter system is designed for single room cooling and will have a minimal duct run. These are perfect for drop ceiling installations. There needs to be sufficient space to install the bulkhead system in the ceiling.

Our team will inspect the available space and understand your requirements before recommending either a bulkhead or ducted system for your home or commercial setting.

Zoned air conditioning is an excellent way to achieve optimal cooling or heating in your home. In this system, the ducted aircon system is divided into multiple zones on the property, which can be heated or cooled independently. The series of ducts are installed in the roof and these channel the air into different zones in your house. These zones are defined by the different main living areas in the house and you can create a zone for different areas or rooms, for greater comfort.

The ducts extend to individual areas where the vents release the air into that area. Dampers (electrical mechanical valves) control the airflow intensity depending on how much they are open. When they are fully open, the maximum amount of air flows into that particular zone. When closed, the zone doesn’t get any conditioned air. High quality zoned AC systems provide excellent control over each zone.

A single phase AC operates on a single-phase power supply. The single phase is the standard method of distributing electric power in heating and lighting. Three phase ACs need a 3-phase power supply and these are typically installed for systems that have higher cooling or heating capacities. Three-phase power is a very common method of generating, transmitting and distributing AC electric power.

It is a common method used that electrical grids globally use to transfer power. It is used to operate equipment and machines that need heavy loads. You need to select an AC based in the space and room requirements and not just the available power supply. Our experts are here to help you with all your AC requirements. They will assess the property’s power supply before recommending what works best for the system you have chosen.

Flexible ducts are a vital component of all air conditioning systems. They connect the cooling and heating system’s ductwork to the air distribution chamber. The system has grills and registers fitted in the building’s ceilings or walls. Compared to metal ducting, flexible ones are faster to install, as there are fewer offsets, elbows and joints. Long zip ties or metal band clamps are all that’s required to attach them.

The quality and insulation of flexible ducts is as crucial as the AC system itself as it helps reduce your energy costs and your AC system operating at peak performance. Poorly insulated or sealed ducts result in heat loss from the duct network branching. This reduces your home’s heating and cooling efficiency; in turn, this results in higher energy bills. Better insulation means improved cooling comfort, as there is no loss of air-conditioned air through the ductwork.

Most AC experts recommend that air conditioners should be set at 18-20°C throughout the year. This is the most energy-efficient setting. However, every person has different requirements and something that is “ideal” for one person might not be that way for another. Elderly, ill persons or even very young children need slightly warmer indoor temperatures during wintertime, so you need to discuss your home’s air-conditioning needs with your family first.

In addition to setting the temperature correctly, if you have a zoning system installed, at night, you can adjust the AC to a higher temperature in the bedrooms or other areas you use during the daytime and shut-off all other zones during that time. If you make sure that your home insulation is up to the mark, and there are no drafts coming in from the window and doorframes, it will help improve warmth indoors, without stressing the air conditioning system.

The temperature that you set your AC to, matters a great deal when it comes to energy consumption and paying less on your energy bills each month. The one way to curb excessive energy use is to set your thermostat at a temperature that will ensure comfort in your home, without stressing the system. It’s best to set your thermostat in the 22-24 degree range. Every time you use a degree of cooling less, you save on your energy bills.

Another way to reduce your utility bills is to install a thermostat that has an efficient, built-in timer. It means that you can set the temperature and the operating hours for maximum energy-efficiency. It’s great to have a system where you can set the temperature and the duration, for which you want your AC to heat or cool, forget it and save money as well.

You cannot change your air conditioner’s temperature setting on the FAN or DRY function. This function is used on rainy days because the moisture levels are high during this time. The dry/fan mode helps reduce humidity levels, by making the air dry. In this mode, the AC acts also refreshes the air in humid climates.

The air conditioner can also operate at higher or lower temperatures than what’s been set (in dry operation) and this maximises the dehumidification capacity. There is also a difference between cool and dry modes. When in cool mode you can adjust the temperature between 16 C and 30 C and in dry mode, you can adjust the temperature within the 18 C to 30 C range. You will be able to adjust fan speed only when it’s in Cool Mode. These functions help maintain more comfortable indoor spaces during the rains.

If you want to enjoy maximum efficiency from your air conditioning unit, its best to operate the AC at 21-11 degrees during the winter months and 25-26 degrees during summertime. This will ensure you get maximum energy-efficiency from your Ac system. Many of our clients also ask us what temperature is ideal when they are sleeping. This, of course, is a personal preference, but 22 degrees is the ideal temperature at night.

However, if you want to reduce your energy consumption and cost, consider following the guide mentioned above. Therefore, if you typically set your air conditioner to 22 degrees during summer, change it to 25 degrees and you will reduce your daily AC energy consumption by more than 20%. You will still have comfortable indoor spaces, while reducing the impact on the environment and bringing down your energy bills. When you maintain the system at a moderate temperature, your system will also operate efficiently for longer.
